Sunny in Seattle

It's been a great few days here in the Pacific Northwest - sunny and 65-70, and I've definitely taken advantage of it!

Yesterday, I lounged around in the quad for an hour after class, enjoying the cherry blossoms, and then for another few hours at Ravenna Park, after the quad got too crowded.

Cherry blossoms in the quad ^^

Then I went to Husky football practice, which was awesome - it was really fun to watch, and exciting to see how different the program already has now that TW is gone, gone, gone!

Went over to a friend's house and watch a bit of the UNC game - that has to be one of the most boring national championship games in the history of March Madness! On the bright side, I did pick UNC to win, so my bracket finished at 98%... not bad!

Then we went down to Golden Gardens after sunset and walked around on the beach, and built a little bonfire under the stars.

Golden Gardens ^^

Today I skipped class (I only had one!) and went to Matthews Beach with a friend and hung out until it was almost dark, then squeezed in a quick run before the sun set. Love the weather, can't wait until summer!

Memories of my ponies...

In the spirit of horsey, here are some horsey pics from my facebook! I have more that I'll have to upload some time... but this should be plenty for now ;)

One of my senior pictures with Rusty... isn't he gorgeous?

With Rusty after my very first dressage show... how cute!

Pony pals

These are some of the awesome horses I've gotten to work with at Little Bit so far:

This is Spencer, who is an adorable pony and the one I usually help with in his hippotherapy class. What a good boy!

This is Raffi, who is by far the tallest horse in the barn - he's absolutely huge! But he's a sweetie, basically a big teddy bear - we practiced on him during the volunteer training!

This is Mahon, who I've helped with in a sport class - what a cute face!

This is MacDuff, who apparently used to be a show pony before coming to Little Bit and is now learning how to do hippotherapy as well - such a cutie!

This is Doc, who I've usually seen used in sport classes - he is fun for some of the more advanced riders, and even apparently likes to jump!

This is Bjorn, who is a sweetheart and the favorite pony of one of my favorite little riders!

This is Ben, who is super cute and super silky soft! :)

One done

First week of spring quarter out of the way - my last undergraduate quarter at UW! It's finally starting to sink in, and at the same time it seems absolutely crazy. So far, so good as far as classes go this quarter - most of them seem like they'll at least be somewhat interesting!

I am taking:

Soc 347 - National Social Movements, including the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's Rights Movement, and the Pro-Choice Movement. It's a two hour lecture at 8:30 AM, that's the only downside - I just have to keep reminding myself that it's only twice a week, and these are the last 8:30 classes I will ever have to take!

Soc 371 - Criminology - the professor for this has quite a sense of humor, which makes going to class actually entertaining, and he seems pretty good so far. Also, I ended up with a few friends in my quiz section, which is always nice! The final for this class is Wednesday, June 10 from 4:30 to 6:20 PM - which is interesting, because the Soc Department graduation is that same night at 6:30! Guess we'll have to hustle!

Soc 366 - Bureaucracy in Society - so far, I think this class could go either way - but it is an important topic, at least, given how much of today's society and infrastructure is controlled by bureaucracies.

Music 116 - Elementary Music Theory - the professor seems a little crazy, but everyone I know has done fairly well in the class, and I have been playing clarinet since 5th grade, so I have a lot of the basics down - just need to learn bass clef, which is really really weird!

In running news, I had a great run in the rain yesterday, and plan on going tomorrow as well. Now that my cough has gone away and I've sort of settled into the routine of this quarter, time to pick it back up! Hooray!

I had my second week of volunteering at Little Bit today (handy that I had Mom's car as she is in Cali for the week - lucky! - and thus didn't have to take an hour and a half each way walking and bussing!). I did another hippotherapy session with Olivia, who is soooo cute, and then helped out in the sport class with a fun kid named Colin. The kids are so adorable, all the volunteers and instructors seem super nice and helpful, and of course, the horses are awesome. :)
