Well, I had intended to update the blog more often than this so that if I ever actually publish it there would be something (boring, probably, but at least something) there to read. But, all the snow and slush and ice (and the holidays) have sort of interupted my running the past week. I ran a whole 3 days (including today) and 20 miles. I'm not being too hard on myself yet, because I told myself I'd take December easy after the Seattle Marathon, but December ends next week, so time to start getting back in gear...
Next week, I have planned:
Monday - Swim
Tuesday - 4 miles
Wednesday - 5 miles
Thursday - Resolution Run 5K (3.1)
Friday - 4 mile tempo run
Saturday - Off
Sunday - 10 miles
Total - 26.1 miles
Then school starts up again next Monday and I'll have to figure out a routine to get into with class pretty much all day every day, homework, work, and attempting to find somewhere to volunteer to make my resume a little better! (Oh, and hopefully still having a social life in there somewhere). As long as all the slippery ice and slush melts, I should be good to go.
I'm 24 and a graduate of the University of Washington. I have run 3 marathons, 11 half marathons, and 3 triathlons so far and am looking forward to more! I am currently working in accounting, and have just started learning how to knit! I also love hiking, camping, and being outside in nature in general, as well as sports, cooking, baking, and music!

Snow running
I went on my first snow run today, and it was awesome! It's really not that cold (I was toasty warm for the whole run), it's not icy, there's 2-3 inches of fresh powdery snow, and Ravenna Park was absolutely gorgeous today. I ran around all the hilly upper trails, about 3.5 miles. I didn't really even notice the hills after all the hill training that I did for the Seattle Marathon (although I'll need to do a lot more if I'm going to start aiming for ultras!). I had to keep stopping to dig out the ice and snow that balled up under the heels of my shoes, but that was the only issue.
Since this is my first post on this blog, here is the running plan for 2009:
1/1/2009 - Resolution Run 5K and Polar Bear Dive
2/9/2009 - Valentine 5K
3/15/2009 - St. Patrick's Day Dash (3.75 miles?)
4/11/2009 - Sun Mountain 25K trail run
5/2/2009 - Bloomsday 12K (maybe)
5/11/2009 - Kirkland 1/2 Marathon
5/18/2009 - Beat the Bridge 8K
6/7/2009 - North Olympic Discovery Marathon (volunteering)
6/27/2009 - Seattle Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon
7/25/2009 - Torchlight 8K
9/6/2009 - Skagit Flats 1/2 Marathon
10/4/2009 - Portland Marathon
11/29/2009 - Seattle Marathon
I will leave this post at that, as I still have lots of cleaning and Christmas cards to get to!
